Data Abstraction in CAPSNet Centres

Each CAPSNet centre has an appointed site investigator and an on-site, trained data abstractor. Maternal and fetal data are tracked to either a perinatal outcome (e.g., stillbirth or termination of pregnancy) or to birth, and postnatal data collection continues until death or discharge from the CAPSNet centre.

Data collection in each centre is sanctioned by the institutional review board (IRB) and conforms to privacy protection legislation in every province. Research studies done with aggregate data receive IRB approval from the investigator's institution.
