 About CAPSNet

The Canadian Pediatric Surgery Network (CAPSNet) is a multi-speciality Canadian

collaborative established in 2005 to enable systematic study of the two most common

structural birth defects encountered by pediatric general surgeons: gastroschisis (GS)

and congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH).

CAPSNet has made
considerable progress in research directed towards short-term

outcome improvement for both conditions well as identifying a number of treatment

strategies associated with good and poor short-term outcomes.

CAPSNet has received support from key stakeholders, such as the Canadian
Association of Paediatric Surgeons
, the Canadian Association of Paediatric Health Centres,
the Neonatal-Perinatal Interdisciplinary Capacity Enhancement (NICE) team, the CIHR Team
in Maternal-Infant Care
, the
Maternal, Infant, Child and Youth Research Network
and
Health Canada.
