CAPSNet Data Abstractors

Each site has determined a data abstractor whose primary responsibility it will be to collect data for every eligible CAPSNet patient. Eligible patients include all mothers who are referred to one of the 16 Canadian tertiary perinatal centres for ongoing prenatal care of a fetus with suspected or confirmed diagnosis of Gastroschisis or Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia. Once a mother and her fetus have been deemed eligible for the study, the fetus must be followed until either termination of the pregnancy or birth and subsequent neonatal death or discharge home from the hospital. Data will be collected directly into a secured database. The CAPSNet database comprises both prenatal data (gathered from the maternal chart) and postnatal data (gathered from the infant's chart).

Abstractor Time-Sheets

As of October 2005, Abstractors will use a new invoicing process to receive payment for data collection. Download and complete the following time-sheet and then e-mail or fax to the Coordinator as indicated on the form. Please allow 3–4 weeks turn around time following submission of the form.
